The Clinton Presidential Center celebrates the legacy of Arkansas’ favorite son. That legacy is also on display throughout the streets of Little Rock. What better way to see historic sites and other attractions made famous by the president than through a fun, informative walking tour?

Start your tour at the Old State House Museum, Arkansas’ first capitol building and the site of President Bill Clinton’s election-night victory speeches. Located at 300 W. Markham St., the museum includes a collection of the first ladies’ inaugural gowns, an exhibit on the Arkansas wilderness, Clinton memorabilia and the Grandmother’s Attic children’s playroom. Guests can also view two historic legislative chambers. Admission is free.

After leaving the Old State House, take a stroll east down past the Peabody Little Rock and Capital Hotel. There you can catch the trolley or continue walking to the River Market, a lively stretch of restaurants, bars and businesses where President Clinton could often be spotted when he was in town during his presidency.

The Little Rock Farmers’ Market is in full swing on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from May to October and features homegrown fruits and vegetables as well as flowers, jewelry and more. Inside Market Hall are several food vendors offering selections from barbecue to Thai cuisine.

Just a few short blocks away is the Clinton Presidential Center. Set in a 30-acre park, the center includes the nation’s largest archival collection on American presidential history. A 20,000-SF museum, an 80-seat theater, a pavilion, a restaurant, a multipurpose center and replicas of the Oval Office and Cabinet Room make up the features of the center.

You can also stop by the Little Rock Visitor Information Center at Curran Hall, 615 E. Capitol Ave., for suggestions on a variety of sites to pique your interest.
