The center is located at Ninth and Broadway, once the center of a thriving black social and economic district and the site of the headquarters for the Mosaic Templars of America.
The fraternal organization was established in 1883 to provide insurance and other services to blacks during segregation. The example and economic effect was felt nationwide, and the organization is now recognized as one of the stateâs greatest endeavors in history.
