What to See for a First-Timer in Little Rock

There's more than one way to experience Little Rock. Here's a crash-course taste of the town for the uninitiated.
The Little Rock. Dubbed “le Petit Rocher,” by French explorers, Little Rock’s namesake is still visible from Riverfront Park. Once an important landmark, the rock outcropping is said to be the point where the Ouachita Mountains first touch the Arkansas River.
Barbecue. One taste of Whole Hog Café’s famous barbecue and potato salad and you’ll see why it was the restaurant of choice when former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee hosted Sen. John McCain on a 2008 presidential campaign stop.
Tourist Draw. You can’t miss the William J. Clinton Presidential Center no matter what your political leanings. The library includes full-scale replicas of the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room as well as interactive and travelling exhibits.
Local Flavor. Getting acquainted with the city make you thirsty? The Arkansas Travelers baseball team is the inspiration for the cream style Hook Slide Ale made at the Boscos microbrewery in the River Market.
