There's more than one way to experience Little Rock. Here are some sites that dig deeper into the capital city's past.

Ghost Stories. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Mount Holly Cemetery at 12th Street and Broadway Avenue is the final resting place of many of Arkansas’ early leaders, including past senators, governors and even Confederate generals.

Historic landmark. Once the de facto command post for the Central High School desegregation crisis in 1957, the Daisy Bates House at 1207 W. 28th St. is now a museum honoring the civil rights pioneer.

Urban legend. The unusually large elevator at the Capital Hotel seems to be just another mark of luxury. But legend has it that the hotel, which opened in 1870, built it to allow President Ulysses S. Grant to take his horse to his room. See for yourself.
